SYHS Posts 828 API!

The State Department of Education recently released the Academic Performance Index (API) Growth results from the 2011-12 school year. Santa Ynez High School's 828 API showed a four-point improvement schoolwide over the previous year and secures SYVUHS's position as the highest-performing of Santa Barbara County's non-charter, public high schools. The goal for all schools is to maintain an API of 800 or better. By posting an API of 828 SYHS met the schoolwide state growth target for the most recent State of California Accountability Progress Reporting (APR) cycle.

The API is calculated using a formula which includes results from both the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) and the STAR California Standards Test (CST). The largest percentage of the API comes from the CSTs. For more information on the State of California's accountability program for schools, read the information guide.
