When the original explorers and settlers of the Santa Ynez Valley founded our great school district in 1896, they couldn’t have imagined how radically different the learning environment would be for students in the 21st century. However, the founders of our school district – pioneers on many levels beyond the staking and settling of land – had much in common with the staff, students, and parents of today. They understood that constructing a rock-solid foundation for successive generations would take hard work and an unwavering commitment to building the ideal community.
When you walk through the halls of our schools today, you will see that our founders’ work ethic and commitment to progress is still thriving. The Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District is the top performing high school district in Santa Barbara County, and is the home of one of the best high schools in the state. As leaders in high school graduation rates, advanced curriculum offerings, and career-technical courses, our schools offer students in the Santa Ynez Valley an unparalleled educational opportunity.
I invite you to explore our website and learn about our incredible programs, as well as our outstanding faculty and classified employees. But more importantly, I invite you to join us on campus. Our school district represents 123 years of Santa Ynez Valley history and is the only public entity that touches every neighborhood and community in 1,500 square miles. We are proud of that fact and we hope you take the opportunity to visit us soon.
