2023 Welcome Message

Dear SYVUHSD Community,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. At SYVUHSD, our mission is to provide a rigorous and broad academic experience that connects and engages the social, emotional, and physical needs of every student in a positive and supportive learning environment. We are focused on creating engaging learning opportunities for all students, both inside the classroom and through our many extracurricular activities. Our dedicated staff are here to support you and your students during their high school journey with us.

I am pleased to announce Mitch Torina as Interim Principal. Mr. Torina comes to us with 25 years experience in education and a background in counseling and administration. Mr. Torina is already familiar with our staff, students and campus, having served as a substitute administrator for us last year. While our search continues for a permanent principal, I am excited to have Mr. Torina help us get the new school year off to a great start.

I am also excited for the changes in our administrative team this year, with Vice Principal Victoria Martinez overseeing Refugio High School and Counseling Services, Vice Principal Jasmine Day in charge of Student Services and Vice Principal Peter Haws overseeing Athletics and Curriculum. Together, we are committed to providing a safe learning environment for all while building the skills necessary to ensure that every student graduates prepared for success in their future endeavors.

I look forward to a safe, positive, and memorable school year for all our students.

Andrew Schwab

******************************************************************************************************************************************************Estimada comunidad SYVUHSD,
