Superintendent Search


The Board of Trustees of the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District is in the process of conducting a Superintendent/Principal Search for purposes of hiring the District's next Superintendent/Principal.  The executive search firm, Education Leadership Services, was selected to advise the Board in this important process. 

The Board held interviews from 8:00am until 4:00pm on Wednesday, March 27th during which they assessed six highly qualified candidates. Following careful consideration, the board selected a finalist for further evaluation, inviting them for a second-round interview in the afternoon.
An offer was made to the finalist last night and the board is currently working through contract negotiations with this individual. The board is very encouraged that this individual will be a good fit for our district. In terms of next steps, you will see a special closed session board meeting agenda most likely the week of Spring break so the board can discuss the contract negotiations amongst themselves and with legal counsel. 
 We anticipate announcing the candidate at the April 16th board meeting. This is to give the person time to work through the contract negotiations before giving their current employer notice. We hope you will join us on the 16th to welcome our new Superintendent/Principal to the district. 

Superintendent/Principal Interviews are scheduled to take place Wednesday, March 27th  at an off-site location in the valley. The off-site location is to maintain the anonymity of the candidates due to the high-profile nature of the position in our community. As per the requirements of the Brown Act, these interviews constitute an official closed session board meeting due to the attendance of all board members and the nature of the discussion. We are excited to announce that we have six highly qualified candidates scheduled for interviews. Given the comprehensive nature of the selection process, interviews are anticipated to last all day. We expect the board to reach a decision on the selected candidate by the end of the week
